Ann Carroll - Vice President/Design began her path in the fashion industry as a student and graduate of Colorado State Colorado with a BS degree in Applied Human Science in 1988. There began the long career path in this very exciting and competitive industry. After graduating from CSU in 1988, Ann moved from Denver, Colorado to Seattle, Washington. In 1988, Seattle was a hotbed of design and retail companies, making it a prime destination for young, hungry designers from all over the country. Seattle, Washington at the time was the home office of such companies as Generra Sportswear, Union Bay, Brittania, Bench Clothing, BUM equipment, International News, Eddie Bauer, and Nordstrom just to name a few. Ann quickly joined the young men's design team at Generra Sportswear. Two years at Generra Sportswear gave her the first glimpse into design in the corporate arena, gaining great knowledge in the design development, production and shipping sides of business. It also provided important knowledge in the designer/factory relationship. After 2 years at Generra, Ann was interested in using more of her pattern making and sewing skills. She left the company in 1991 and began working at a retail store in Seattle called Design Rebellion in the popular Pike Place Market. Design Rebellion was a store in which all the merchandise sold there was developed and produced in a studio on the store's premises. This gave Ann the opportunity to perfect her pattern making, production, and custom design skills. This store was something very unique, it inspired and changed Ann's career path forever. While working at Design Rebellion, Ann also launched the first of her personal design collections - Ann Chase Carroll. Ann Chase Carroll was sold in women's boutiques in 3 different states in the US. In addition to designing, producing and shipping her own collection, Ann was also working part time at Urban Outfitters. An upcoming urban streetwear store catering to the alternative lifestyle of America's youth. Ann enjoyed this time tremendously as it gave her the opportunity to get in touch with the customers at a retail level and also kept her finger on the pulse of the ever-changing American teenager. Living in Seattle, during the 'grunge' music phenomenon and working in Urban Outfitters was an incredible time to observe the many influences of teen fashion - music, movies, television, magazines, pop icons, etc. |
After a few years of designing her own collection, working for Design Rebellion, working for a wholesale agent from San Francisco and working at Urban Outfitters, Ann decided to enter the corporate design arena once more. She joined Nordstrom in 1996 as a sportswear/coat designer for the junior division - BP. Ann worked in Nordstrom Product Group - a division of the retail store that created exclusive designs for the Nordstrom stores nationwide. Ann's years at Nordstrom were incredibly valuable for so many reasons. She learned a great deal in addition to establishing some important contacts in the fabric and factory areas of business. As the designer, Ann learned every stage of a garment from concept to delivery while communicating with agents and suppliers on a daily basis. After 7 incredibly successful years at Nordstrom, Ann once again decided to head out on her own, this time expanding her experience to the European market. In spring 2003, Ann moved to Dublin, Ireland and currently lives in London. When Dava shared the C U Next Tuesday concept with Ann, she embraced the idea. With Dava Siedman as her partner and friend with a similar vision on life and lifestyle, Ann knows that the C U Next Tuesday products they create will be fantastic and embraced by happy customers. |
